Teaching and playing the flute are my speciality! I love helping students acheive their individual goals. Seeing students get excited about learning the flute makes me so happy because I know how rewarding playing music can be.

My name is Alex Giger, and I'm a Chicago-based violinist/violist. I offer in-person or virtual lessons for you, and can accommodate your schedule for a lesson. My style of teaching is empathetic and socratic. I create goals and customize lessons to help you develop your viola skills in a way that improves your applied critical thinking. I have over a decade of experience teaching students of all ages. My HS students have found success at youth orchestra (some currently in CYSO) and college auditions. I find great joy in teaching motivated students of all ages to discover a new side of themselves and help them reach their greatest potential!

My job for any student is to help cater to the student's individual goal while also making learning the cello as painless as possible. When I work with a student, I want the student to achieve the following concepts: 1. Setup. Cellists will have good posture and be able to make cello playing feel easy. 2. Tone. Every sound a cellist plays should come from a good sound. 3. Intonation/Music Reading. Every cellist has the ability to play in tune.
