The son of two music teachers, I have been immersed in music, first violin, then piano, and finally trombone, since the age of 7. I fell in love with jazz, especially Dixieland, Louis Armstrong, Jack Teagarden, through Miles Davis, JJ Johnson and beyond, when I was a teenager, but ultimately my main focus has been on Classical music for most of my career. Hello! My approach to teaching includes a collaboration of my students' interest with fundamental pedagogy. I work with my students to pinpoint their goals as well as overall motivations in music. The students' interests drive their long term lesson plans in addition to week by week structure. My passion for teaching came from the beginning of my playing career when I began helping younger students while I was in high school. I love drawing out inspiration from my students and igniting that spark to make music for others.
